Mangrove is one of the Marine ecosystems with the highest productivity in the interlacing zone of sea and land in tropical and subtropical coastal zones. Mangrove plays an extremely important role in purifying seawater, preventing wind and waves, maintaining biodiversity, sequestration and carbon storage, etc. Through the growth monitoring of mangroves, we can timely understand the growth status of mangroves, which is very important for the protection and restoration of ecosystem.

 

The mangrove growth status monitoring is mainly based on the spectral information and height information of mangrove branches and leaves. At present, the growth status monitoring based on traditional remote sensing means mainly provides spectral information, but cannot provide the height information in the vertical direction. Airborne LiDAR system combines the spectral information obtained by camera sensor and the height information obtained by LiDAR to provide a new monitoring method for mangrove growth monitoring.

 

Based on PM-1500 airborne LiDAR system, it can simultaneously obtain the image data taken by the camera while obtaining the laser point cloud data points. The combination of the two can obtain the spectral information and height information of mangrove, so as to provide rich data sources for mangrove growth monitoring.
